Specialized hardware/software complex to monitor construction of gas transportation systems

Abstract

Customer monitors all gaz pipeline transportation systems on the territory of the former Soviet Union: over 200,000 miles of pipelines, 50 regional offices.

Purpose of the Project

Specialized hardware/software complex is to collect, visualize, process and distribute all data pertaining to design, construction and exploitation of the pipelines.

Objectives

TO COVER:

• Over 50 distributed regional offices
• Over 1000 pipeline inspectors
• Hundreds of megabytes of data, coming to the central office daily
• Pipelines: Dozens of thousands miles

System Development Process

It?s a «turn-key» project.

Steps :

• Development of software and hardware architecture
• Development of DB architecture
• Development of Software Application architecture
• Development of Network architecture

The following was done:

• Project design and development; installation, testing and certification of LAN and communication facilities in the central office.
• Hardware purchased, delivered and configured: servers, work stations, printers, plotters, modems, palmtops, etc
• System software installed: OSs, DB servers, network facilities
• Application software have been developed and deployed
• System users and administrators were trained
